Hi I have a firm sprung kingsize mattress which I purchased 2 years ago. I suffer from lower back problems, Obstructive sleep apnea and recently have had shoulder upper back pain after a nights sleep. I am 5ft 10" tall, 19 stone have a long back some most of my weight is on the upper part of my body-short legs 29" inner leg. I have tried mattress toppers but still do not sleep comfortably. I sleep on my sides if possible to assist my OSA. I think my mattress may be too firm for my heav body weight so would .appreciate views on a handmade mattress to alleviate my problems. Please can someone contact me after the xmas period re a possible solution

Hi Noel,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

The main consideration when advising someone on a new mattress is that person's body weight as this will determine the spring tension required to provide the support needed.

In your particular case a Firm spring is the correct tension, however, due to the way you sleep (on your side), you will require softer upholstery.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Please view our Artisan Luxury, which can have the spring tension selected to suit and has the softest natural upholstery in the Artisan range and will suit a side sleeper even in the firm spring tension.

We trust that this helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
