Sue Robinson

Hi, Hope you can help. My Partner is 14 stone and 5'9". I am 10 stone and 5'2". I suffer with siatic pain, particularly after a nights sleep, hence confirming our mattress needs changing. We have a Willis & Gambier slatted base and a Millbrook 1700 pocket sprung mattress. We have always chosen pocket sprung mattresses. We have struggled finding a suitable mattress for the both of us. My husband prefers a firmer feel. I could do with a softer top layer due to my siatica. We both do not like a mattress that would trap heat. I've been looking at the Hypnos Bedstead 3 mattress. We have laid on many mattresses over the past year, but invariably, one that I feel is just right is too soft for him! The situation is now desperate. I now have hip arthritis so a good mattress is essential! Your help would be much appreciated!

Hi Sue

Thanks for your question.

I would recommend that you look at zip and link mattresses, this way you can both have a spring support within the mattress more in line with your different body weights and desired feels. Also with the zip link option, you could then buy a mattress topper that just hooks over the edges of your half of the mattress to give you that softer feeling you are looking for, so it doesn't aggravate your sciatic pain.

Artisan Naturals mattress

A good mattress to look at would be the Artisan Naturals which has a medium feel in the top upholstery layers i.e not too soft or too firm. This model has 85% natural fibres, which create the cooler mattresses.

If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
