Ultimate Collection Angora, Hypnos Elite and the Artisan Luxury?

Hi, we are thinking of getting an artisan luxury in medium (double).
We tried a mattress in John Lewis (ultimate collection angora) which was amazing but out of price range! Can’t quite compare as I can’t work out the difference in spring counts, but I did think it felt quite ‘soft’ which is why I thought the artisan luxury might be comparable.
We also tried the Hypnos elite which we liked but not as much as the John Lewis one!
Sorry for very specific questions, website seems to suggest you have lots of thoughts/comparisons so thought I’d see if you could help! Thanks in advance :)

Hi Lucia

Thanks for your question,

The Artisan Luxury would be a great choice if you are looking for a luxurious soft sinking feeling in the comfort layer, with the best possible support available with 1328 Calico Encased Pocket Springs. You pair the support based on your body weights as shown by the table below.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

We have recently published an article, all about our comparisons to the John Lewis naturals range here. This goes into great detail throughout the range and should help explain the difference in spring counts and why the spring counts vary so much between brands.

As there is limited information about the Hypnos Elite, other than that it contains wool, cotton, and Solotex™. This would suggest that it is firmer in the comfort layer in comparison to our Artisan Luxury.

You also have another alternative to the Artisan Luxury in our range. It would be the Artisan Bespoke 003. This would give you a slightly firmer comfort layer, although it would be a softer support layer due to the dual layer of Calico Encased Pocket Springs.

I hope this helps if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact the office.
