At the body weights you have provided you would need to opt for a medium spring tension for the correct support.

If you decide to purchase one of our John Ryan mattresses we would recommend boarding over your sprung slatted base using MDF or Plywood. This is where the slats are humped or arched.  You may have heard of ‘the humpback bridge’ effect where the mattress develops a central dip due to this.  This is where the pressure from the arch is too firm for the mattress.  The middle of the slats is the lowest point and the foam conforms to this shape.

With the aches and pains that you are experiencing I would recommend going for a mattress that has medium comfort/ upholstery layers. Our Origins Pocket 1500 is described as an all round medium feel mattress, with medium support from the springs and medium upholstery layers.
