Thank you for your question. The Artisan Bespoke 004 mattress is constructed with 100% natural fibres in the comfort layers and has a true medium overall feel. This mattress is ideal for all sleep positions as it is not too firm for side sleepers nor too soft for front and back sleepers. As different batches of fibres can have different densities, each batch can have the same GSM but be slightly thinner or thicker which means we can only give an approximate depth of 27 to 30 cm.

A mattress topper is an additional comfort layer which should provide a softer overall feel. A mattress topper can also prolong the lifespan of the mattress by taking the impact of your sleeping and moving around on the mattress instead of the upholstery layers. The Coolblue mattress topper is a hybrid foam that has a medium density. This means that although it will protect the mattress it will not give it a softer feel. The depth of this topper is 7.5cm. We always recommend trying a mattress for a few weeks to get a true feel for the upholstery layers and adding a mattress topper if it is a little too firm, especially during the first 12 months while the upholstery layers are settling. If you do require a mattress topper we recommend one that will complement the upholstery layers of your mattress. A foam mattress will change the Artisan Bespoke 004 from a cushioning feel to a moulding feel. For this mattress, we would recommend a natural fibre mattress topper such as wool or cotton so that you do not lose the benefits of the natural fibre upholstery layers.
