Slatted bed frame
What type of mattress do l need for a wooden slatted
bed frame
Hi Sheila,
Thank you for your question. You can put any mattress on a slatted bedframe; however, you may need a tweak or two.
Some mattresses, such as memory foam, require the additional airflow of a slatted bed frame. I would recommend checking with the retailer about the requirements for each mattress.

You can put a pocket-sprung mattress on a slatted bed frame. Due to the diameter of the springs within the mattress, most manufacturers require that the gap between the slats be no more than 3 inches (7.5 cm). For our mattresses, with a gap of 3 inches or less, we advise that the slats be covered with an old or cheap duvet to protect the upholstery layers on the underside of the mattress from indentations or possible staining.
If the gap is larger than 3 inches, you will need to board over the slats with MDF or Plywood, you can use pegboard if you are concerned about airflow although our mattresses are fully breathable and do not require this, to prevent the springs from settling in the gap which will mean that you do not get the correct support from the springs and will damage your new mattress.
I hope this helps, and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss your individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
