MCAS sufferer looking for new mattress

Comment Check Icon 1 answers Comment Icon 0 comments

Hello,

I recently purchased a new mattress from another company containing wool, cotton, hemp and flax and upon contact it has caused red, hot and itchy skin which lasts for weeks afterwards. The company does not use any chemicals in the product, so my assumption is that this is potentially caused by the wool activating my MCAS symptoms.

I came across your Vegan mattress and wanted to ask whether you feel this would be suitable for someone with mast cell sensitivity? I don't have any other material allergies that I am aware of, but also believed I would be ok on the previous mattress as all the components were natural, so really want to be as safe as possible with this next purchase. I am ideally looking for a mattress with no / minimal off gassing, for the same reasons.

I would really appreciate any advice you are able to share to guide our next purchase.

Many thanks,

Gemma

Hi Gemma,

We appreciate you reaching out to us about your need for a wool-free mattress, considering your medical concerns related to MCAS.

From what we can ascertain, this a condition whereupon mast cells release excessive chemicals causing allergic-like symptoms.

Our Artisan Latex mattress is the only option we offer that is crafted entirely from plant-based materials. It is specifically designed for customers who are sensitive to or allergic to animal fibres, making it a suitable choice for your needs.

To ensure that the Artisan Latex best suits your needs however, it's important to assess both support and comfort levels. Support comes from the internal spring unit, which is tailored to your body weight and height. Comfort, on the other hand, is determined by the upholstery fillings placed above the spring unit, and it varies based on your preferred sleeping positions.

Side sleepers do require cushioning for shoulders and hips whereas a back sleeping would require a comfort level that will keep their spine aligned whereas a front sleeper requires something slightly firmer.

To better understand your specific needs and ensure the Artisan Latex mattress is the right fit for you, we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further over the phone. Please give us a call at 0161 437 4419 at your convenience.

Kind regards Julie Collier
