Best bed for bad backs
I would like to know what you would recommend for a couple who have back issues and cant quite agree on comfort.
I like a medium bed whilst my husband likes a firmer bed. We have just brought a bed from a well known high street shop that was medium/firm with memory form top. It was bad ,after one night on it we couldn't sleep as it made us hot, and smell made us feel sick.(we did air it out)so we are trying to get our money back. My back as a lot worse when i got up.
So if and when we get our money back why should i get a bed from you.
Kind Regards
Mary
Hello Mary,
Thank you for your enquiry. It is difficult to make any form of recommendation in respect of a suitable mattress for you both without knowledge of your specific body weights. We would need that information to determine the correct spring tension for you both. Incorrect spring tension could aggravate your back issues. The advice used to be that you required a firm mattress for any back problems but that is a misconception. The correct support in the springs is essential, then the upholstery layers are based on personal preferences and sleeping habits, for example, firm upholstery can cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees for anyone who sleeps on their side.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
I wish you luck with your efforts to obtain a refund and would suggest that you view the products in our Artisan range. Natural fibres offer the coolest sleep surface, unlike memory foam they do not retain body heat but wick heat and moisture away from you. Vi-Spring to have comparable models to some in our Artisan range so it may help you decide which model would be suitable for both of you if you tried some of these in a showroom. Please bear in mind though, this will only give you a rough idea for two reasons. Firstly they are not like for like in construction but do have similar 'feel' in the comfort layers and secondly, you don't know how many individuals of varying body weights have already softened the mattress before you try it.
When you are in a position to buy, please call our office on 0161 250 9642 to provide your body weights and obtain specific advice as to the suitability of one of these products for you. Our office hours are 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
Kind Regards
Michaela
