Sorry, just resubmitting with corrected weight:
Hi
We are looking to buy a new mattress and after a lot of research came across your site. It's great, and I've read lots of the info on here.
I'm about 5' 10.5" and weigh about 11.5 stone, my partner is 5'5" and about 9 stone. Going by the info on your site and from other people's questions it looks like the Artisan Naturals and Bespoke 004 would maybe be best.
I have always liked a firmer mattress, but I'm not sure if that's just because I'm used to them, and my partner has a bad back, so we are unsure about how firm to get. From further reading it looks like the old advice about a stiff bed for bad backs is probably not so much recognised anymore. Could you advise?
Also, I just wanted to ask about the GSM, you say it's a good guide to the quality of the mattress, but the Naturals GSM is lower than the Bespoke 004, so this doesn't hold up? I know it's down to the man made fibres in the Naturals, but does this mean the GSM is not the only number that matters?
Thanks for such an informative site, I think we will be ordering this week.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your question and thank you for the positive feedback.

With the body weights provided, you both need to be on a Medium spring tension. This is where you get the level of support from within the mattress itself.

Once that is established you can then concentrate on how you want the mattress to feel from it's top upholstery layers, also known as the comfort layers.

With any existing pains we would recommend that you don't opt for a mattress that is too firm as it will only serve to make these pains worse.

Both the Artisan Naturals and Artisan Bespoke 004 are very medium feeling in the top layers; not too soft nor too firm making them both a very supportive mattress. There is only a slight difference between the 2 as the Naturals has 85% natural fibres whereas the Bespoke 004 has 100% natural fibres.

As such, the Bespoke 004 comes in feeling overall medium but is slightly softer than the Naturals model.

In regards to GSM the Naturals has 3950 gsm whereas the Bespoke 004 has 3600 gsm.

Between models there is a different level of gsm indicating how well upholstered the mattress is. However, whilst it's good to know this, it isn't necessarily the most important thing to look at when purchasing.

I hope this has answered your question fully but if you do have any further queries then please don't hesitate to contact us on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
