Choice of mattress replacement

Bed has a slatted base and we currently have two single 80 x 200 x 20 rumal bon flex mattresses. My wife has long complained her mattress is too firm and after an enforced stay in bed - it has to go. She is 5ft 10 and weighs 9 1/4 stone. Would prefer sprung rather than foam.

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We note that you have provided the dimensions of your current mattress and as you have only provided you wife's statistics, assume you are only looking to replace her mattress. Unfortunately, it is not possible to make a pocket sprung mattress with upholstery that will be near or the same depth that you indicate, which means that if you replace one, the two mattresses will not match in height, assuming they are next to each other.

The length and width that you detail are not standard sizes and as such, were you to purchase a mattress from us it would be a bespoke size, which would attract additional cost, the level of which would be 20% on the standard price of whichever model was selected.  There is also no returns guarantee on any mattresses that are classed as a bespoke size.  With your wife's current body weight, we would suggest a medium spring tension/feel mattress and would direct you to the two best selling products in our pocket sprung ranges, as detailed below.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Please view the Origins Pocket 1500, which has man made upholstery and has a standard medium spring tension providing an overall medium feel. Alternatively, you could look at the Artisan Naturals, this having natural upholstery and can have the spring tension selected as soft, medium or firm to suit.

We trust that this helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
