Comparison between Bensons and Dreams mattress

A customer asked

Can you advise if these beds that I am looking at look decent value for money, or overpriced for what you get.

At Bensons, at the lower end of my price range, there is the Royal Crown Ortho Double Divan at £450 and the Backcare Ultima Double at £550.

Then right at the top end of my price range, at Dreams, the Slumberland Penzance Divan at £950, Any help will be appreciated as shopping for a bed is turning into a minefield.

Hi Andrew.

There is no way I could ever bring myself to recommend any mattress from Bensons / Dreams etc. Based purely on budget I would say our Origins Reflex 1000 would be a tough set to beat (circa £695 set).

All mattresses around this price point will usually be polyester based and your job is to find which ones offer you the most upholstery - as an example of this, the description of The Royal Crown Ortho you refer to does not even mention any kind of upholstery element (although we can easily assume it will be polyester of an unknown weight) but goes into explaining how the fabric is an exclusive crown pattern (!).

The Penzance is a pocket memory foam mattress which for £949 (Double: Sept 2013) seems rather overpriced considering also no mention of Memory Foam depth is given.

Our Origins Latex, by comparison, beats it without even trying.#

Hope this helps Andrew.
