Hand teased

Hi,Sorry, I actually have a few questions!I was in Heals trying their natural range and also the vi-spring. Heals do give quite a bit of detail on their fillings (but not gsm) Both these makes stress the hand teased nature of some of the layers. Are any of your layers hand-teased.I really likes the vi spring Regal (sigh) but their natural mohair ( at 1647 for a double in the sale) also felt good. Do you have any further information on Heals beds and which of your beds would be similar. Finally, I am 8stone; the recommendation for me would seem to be a "soft" tension. Beds on display seem to be medium/firm. The mediums seem fine. In Heals there was a "soft" Tiara superb which, to my horror, was horrendous - it completely swallowed me and gave no support at all - the medium was dream. So should I follow your and others' advice about weight/tension or go with what feels right to me?Many thanks Isabel

Hi Isabel,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Although we do have similar fillings to those in the Vi-Spring ranges, we do not specify that any are hand teased. It may well be that this level of description is used to give the impression that it is better quality as a result of it being hand teased. In fact, there is not a significant difference between hand teased and not hand teased. Having said that natural upholstery materials attract a higher price making them suitable to use in quality mattresses.

We do not have any information regarding the products made by Heals, which makes providing any form of comparison impossible.

As far as Vi-Spring are concerned, our Artisan Naturals and Artisan Bespoke 004 both provide a similar feel to the Regal Superb.

The Artisan Bespoke 002, with a double spring unit has a similar feel to the Vi-Spring Tiara.

With your particular body weight, you ought to be looking for a mattress with a soft spring tension.

You do not have enough body weight utilise a medium spring and over time it is likely to feel too firm, even though it may feel fine in store.

Trying a bed in store for say 10-15 minutes is no substitute for 7-8 hours per night.

In addition, when trying in store, you are not aware of how long that product has been on display and how many hundreds of people may have tried them out as well, which have a affect upon the upholstery and feel of that product.

In fact, a new product of the same specification as one tried in store is likely to feel entirely different.

We trust that the above helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind Regards Gary
