Help with mattress
Hello.
Firstly I'd like to express my thanks for such and informative website, very useful and certainly has me interested in your products.
I think I've maxed out my research but have a couple of questions. About us. I'm 6'4, 15.5 stone, partner 5'6 8 stone. Both sleep on combo of back and side. Prefer a slightly firmer feel, but not too firm. We both like the visprung herald superb or regal superb.
1) what would you recommend in your range?
2) your site suggests the herald is 'similar' to the Artisan bespoke while the regal is 'similar' to the bespoke 004. This seems odd to me as the regal is superior in price and quality to the herald. I don't mean to make this about visprung but they are the ones we tested. Could you elaborate on bespoke vs 004 and specially on firmness
3) Are there advantages in using your base vs a 3rd party? 4) Can 3rd party headboards attach to your base?
5) what is your turn around time and how flexible on delivery time can we be? We are waiting on a house purchase to complete
6) if we purchase a 2nd bed from you, do you offer a discount?
Many thanks.
Hi Richard,
Thank you for your enquiry and feedback.
Given your particular body weights, we would suggest that you opt for a split spring tension, medium for you and soft for your partner.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
In addition, we note that you both prefer a firmer feel and to that end, we would recommend the Artisan Bespoke, which can have the spring tension selected to suit and has more natural upholstery providing a slightly firmer feel in the top layers. This mattress is comparable in feel only to the Vi-Spring Herald Superb.
The Artisan Bespoke 004 does not have the same level of upholstery and will provide an overall medium feel in the top layers. The comparisons we make are only in respect of feel and not in terms of construction or levels of upholstery, which is why there may be a discrepancy in terms of pricing.
As far as bases are concerned, the Artisan models referred to are paired with a pocket sprung base, although both could be used on any existing base, sprung or otherwise. Having said that if placed on a solid slatted or platform topped base, this would make the mattresses feel ever so slightly firmer.
If placing on a sprung slatted base, we would advocate placing a barrier, usually thin (3-5mm) MDF over the slats to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.
All our bases have standard headboard fixing points, so any standard sized headboard should fit.
The orders for our Artisan range are placed on a Thursday and the lead time is roughly 4 weeks to mainland UK. If you order and are not ready for delivery the products can be held by us until you notify your readiness to accept, although, adequate notice of around seven days should be provided. This also depends upon your location and this can be discussed in more detail when we call to confirm receipt of your order.
When buying more than one complete bed unit at a time or as a returning customer, we do normally attach a 5% discount to the order but we would need to go through this with you in person.
We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our Advisor's.
Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
