Hospital type pocket sprung mattress

Jill Jones

I live in a frail care facility in South Africa. Due to knee replacement problems, I have 1 straight leg on the right hand side, and a bent leg on the left.
Due to this, I tend to put more weight on the left and my memory foam mattress(es) tend to collapse on the left leaving my hip in a 'hole'. Not very comfortable at all.
If I bought a springs/" class="" >pocket spring mattress, would it be able to flex without damage when I need to sleep with my head slightly raised?
I am in a wheelchair during the day, and at no time would the mattress be raised at the head more than 45°. Most times far less than that-- perhaps 10-15°. Raised higher for supper in bed for about 30mins.
I am so tired of sleeping in a 'hole' and wondered if the pocket spring was a good option. Weight about 120kg.
Appreciate your advice and feedback.
Sincerely , Jill Jones.

Hi Jill,

Thank you for contacting us with regard to the problems you are experiencing with your existing mattress.

Unfortunately none of our pocket sprung mattresses are suitable for an adjustable bed due to spring system that we use.   You can purchase a pocket sprung mattress for use on an adjustable bed but they are made by specialist companies due to the complex spring units needed for this type of mattress.  You would need to make a google search for these companies within South Africa.

I am very sorry that we are unable to assist you further in this matter and hope that you are able to find a mattress that will give you the comfort that you require at this time.

Kind regards Julie
