A customer asked

Hi both i've been reading and digesting your site with interest. I'm considering a purchase of a memory foam mattress, however in view of what I've read, I'm erring toward latex slab. With memory foam density is key - are there any pointers for slab latex purchase?

What about latex PLUS memory foam combinations?

My parter is about 4.5st heavier than I, and our current pocket sprung matress has started to allow roll together (theres also edge sagging from 'moning socks application syndrome!). Its a 10 yr old sprung edge Relyon divan - would I have to change the base to accomodate a latex matress?

Keep up the good work - if your readers trust your comments, and you offer good value for money, you're sure to win their business!!

Hi Fiona, thanks for your kind comments.

The questions you ask may seem simple and straightforward but in reality, are difficult to answer with a great degree of certainty.

The Memory Foam market is BIG business.  Only a handful of people will be privvy to the data that accurately dictates the pros and cons of this product.

Firstly, it will come as no surprise that we are not the most fervent fans of memory foam - hence the reason why none are offered for sale on this site

Latex being entirely natural is one of the industries most premium products you can purchase and hence will hold its price with cotton being a close contender.

Is latex worth the money? Absolutely, purely on the longevity of the product and the comfort it gives but the prices they command deter many people from purchasing.

Latex is a natural milk taken from the rubber tree which when converted into a foam provides superior comfort and durability. The premier latex foam mattress material also commands a premium price.

We would ideally need to know your body weights and what your preferred feel is in order to recommend the correct mattress for you.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

We also have a latex mattress in our Origins Range which is our Origins Pocket Latex 1500 which contains 6 cm of Talalay latex but this is not a natural latex.  The mattress is also quite a firm mattress hence the reason why we need to know body weights and feel.

I hope this assists but please do not hesitate to telephone our office on 0161 437 4419 for further information and advice.

Kind regards Julie
