Latex of pocket pocket sprung?

Hello, we've just made the mistake of buying a Casper mattress that we're very dissatisfied with. After 2 weeks both myself and partner are suffering from pain in our lower backs. We're also not sleeping well because we find the foam mattress is too warm for us. Fortunately we can return the mattress, but we don't know what to replace it with.
Our body weights are 85kg, and we tend to prefer a firmish mattress. The best mattress we've tried was in a New York hotel. It was 100% Natural Latex with a wool batting for softness.
We were wondering whether to go for a 100% latex or a traditional springs/" title="pocket spring">pocket spring. We've tried a Dunlopillo firmrest in store that we both liked, and we also tried a Vispring Sovereign, but only one of us found it comfortable. We wanted to try the Dunlopillo Celeste, but haven't been able to find one to try.
Could you please advise what type of mattress to go for, and your own model.
Thank you in advance.
Mark.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your questions.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you've had with your current mattress.

If you were looking at a traditional pocket sprung mattress then we would match you both to a Medium spring tension.

This is what provides you with the support from within the mattress itself. The next focus is the top upholstery layers, or the comfort layers, as they are more commonly known.

Having had a quick browse online it seems to be that the Vi-Spring Sovereign is actually just a bed base as opposed to a mattress.

If you prefer something on the firmer side then our Artisan Bespoke is the firmest mattress that we offer in the top layers and this compares with the Vi-Spring Herald Superb if you did want to test out the feel.

John Ryan By Design Artisan Bespoke Vi-Spring Herald Superb

2 1200gsm Blended British Fleece Wool and Cotton NA
3 Hairproof Cambric Cover Hairproof Cambric Cover
4 1200gsm Pure Horsetail NA
5 1200gsm Horsehair 1200gsm Horsehair
6 1000gsm White Cashmere Insulator 1000gsm British Fleece Wool

Total GSM 5100gsm 3400gsm

In regards to Latex this is quite a different sensation to a pocket sprung mattress and come in feeling firmer overall. However, if you have tested it at least you do have some idea of what it is like.

The Dunlopillo Firmrest compares with our own Fusion 6 model. At your body weights this will come in very much on the firm side for you both.

Your Bodyweight This will feel
Under 10 Stone / 63kg Firm
10-12 Stone / 63-76kg Firm
12-14 Stone / 76-88kg Firm
14-16 Stone / 88-101kg Firm
16-18 Stone / 101-114kg Firm to Medium
18 Stone / 114kg Plus Please call for advice

In regards to which one to best suit yourself; Only you will know what feel you prefer so ultimately only you can decide.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards,

Amy.
