No bounce mattress advice
Hi We currently have a bed base with sprung slats and an old mattress that's due for replacement. We are looking to replace both mattress and bed. We could do with some advice as to what the best mattress/base combination would be for us. I am around 5'9" and 12st 8lb and my wife is around 5'6" and 9st. We are looking for a king size bed. The key things that we are looking for are as follows:- No 'bounce' when one person turns over. We have tried various pocket sprung mattresses and found them to vary significantly in this regard. What should we look for in a mattress to reduce this to a minimum?- We would like a firm feel without too much padding that will 'settle'- Very important is a mattress that is cool. We have been put off memory foam mattresses completely because they all feel too hot. What should we look for in a mattress so that we will be cool?We are based in the south so unfortunately it is a bit far for us to visit your showroom. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hi John
Thanks for your question.
Your slatted base will be fine to use with any mattress but to make the mattress feel less bouncy, i would put some boards of 3-5 mm hardboard or mdf over the slatted area of your base.
Solid foam and latex mattresses have the least amount of movement, and are sometimes described as dead feeling, only the area where you lie sinks. The new Hybrid foams on the market have a gel in the mix to give them a cooler feel than memory foam, like our Laygel and Coolblue but 100% natural latex is breathable and so even cooler still.
The ranges that incorporate these products are our Hybrid and Fusion models.
