Questions about Millbrook
Posted February 18, 2013 at 8:22 PM Thank you for all the information you give about mattresses. If only we had seen your site before buying our present one. We bought a non-turnable Millbrook mattress about 6 years ago and for 3 of those years it has been very uncomfortable for me – my husband can sleep on anything!
It dipped very badly and of course you can’t turn it over only swivel it round to another sunken patch. I use a light duvet under the sheet but am still waking with pain most mornings. We would like to buy another mattress and although we have had Millbrook beds most of our married life, and quite happy until this last one, I feel we have been buying the wrong firmness (Firm). We had in mind a Millbrook Mattress ‘The Countess’. This has 2000 springs and comes in Firm or Medium and is a turnable mattress. My husband is 6′ 1″ weighing just over 13 stone and I am 5’5″ weighing 10st. 3lbs. I suffer from a muscle related condition which is why anything hard often bruises me. The base of our bed is a pocket sprung divan. Can you advise me whether this mattress is suitable and would a medium firmness be better than another firm one. Is there anything better you could suggest that would be more suitable. Thank you. .
Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your enquiry on our website. With the body weights you have supplied we would pair you both with a medium spring tension. This will give you the correct level of support.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
Having looked at this mattress there are no details of the gsm(grams per square meter) of each component in the comfort layers, which are mostly natural fibres. All of our Artisan range, which is our natural fibre range, have detailed specifications of exactly what we put into each mattress. The comfort layers should be dictated by personal preference and sleeping habits. We wouldn't recommend anything too firm in the upholstery for anyone who sleeps on their side as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees.
A pocket sprung base will soften the overall feel of any mattress, I would recommend you try some of the comparable mattresses in the Vi-Spring range to see what comfort level suits you best.
If you would like to discuss the suitability of any of our product please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team on 0161 437 4419 who would be happy to help. Our office hours are 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
Kind Regards
Michaela
