We note that although you have provided your body weights, you have not disclosed your preferred feel so I will provide advice based upon the normal spring tensions/feel appropriate for the weights. You fall within the firm spring tension bracket and your wife is a medium and I have provided a link here to the guide in respect of spring tensions, for your assistance.

The answer to your question in respect of your base, is that if your base is in good order and not falling apart, there is no need to replace it when buying a new mattress.

We can provide a mattress in our Origins range which will provide a different level of support as required by your body weights and that is the Origins Pocket 1500 king size zip and link, with one half having 1500 spring giving the medium feel for you wife and the other half having 2000 spring providing the firmer feel you require.

Alternatively, and as your budget for a mattress will accommodate this, we would refer you to the Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004, both of which can have the spring tension selected as medium one side and firm the other in a one piece mattress.
