Mattress Bases for a Simba Mattress

First off let's remove the mattress base from the problem. If your metal mattress base is in sound condition its very unlikely that this is causing the issue with your Simba mattress. In fact, Simba mattresses and other boxed rolled mattresses are all pretty much made for slatted mattress bases. Unless the slats are too far apart then it shouldn't be this causing the problem. You can find out if they are too far apart if you look under the bed and see the mattress bulging through in between the slats. If this is happening you ideally need to board over the slats.

If it's not happening then the problem more likely lies with the Simba mattress not being suitable for you.

Problems with your Simba Mattress

It's hard to identify exactly why it's causing the pain during the night but if we look at some of the drawbacks of the Simba mattress it may help shed more light on the issue.

Simba mattresses are made from a proprietary form of memory foam. Simbasleep has its own version of this Vasco elastic foam. However, it relies on heat to work and mould so it does get frequent critique online that it's far too hot. This can lead sleepers to wake up frequently needing to turn over the try and cool down. It can also heat up parts of your body and aggravate them during the night if you're a warm sleeper.

This Simba foam also holds your body in one position during the night. For fidgety sleepers or people with bad backs, this can be quite uncomfortable, as it doesn't allow you to as easily make micro-adjustments during the night like a pocket spring and natural fibre mattress would. It takes time for the foam to release you and return to its original position.

As the Simba mattress is one size is all there's no way to choose a properly tailored support level. There's only one density of support foam available (which they sadly don't disclose) so there's no way of knowing if the support is adequate for your bodyweight or sleeping style.

Why Calico Pocket Spring Models are More Suitable

You're right that a calico encased pocket sprung mattress is the best quality you can buy.
