Can you tell me if I can use a latex mattress on a slatted bed frame?
I have ordered a king sized brass bed frame that has wooden slats that are pre sprung plywood.
Is this ok for a latex mattress - is there a specific mattress that you would recommend.

Hi Mik,

Thank you for your questions.

In regards to latex, it really depends where you purchase from whether it can go on to a slatted base.

John Ryan Fusion 3 Mattress luxury bedroom

Our own Fusion range, for example, needs to go on to a solid base as the latex will attempt to settle between the gaps, just as the mattress will conform to your body it will also mould to the slats. Our latex mattresses are also fully breathable so don't need any gaps to breathe and give the best support when placed on a solid platform base.  Other retailers provide mattresses that aren't breathable and will be fine to go on to a slatted base as they will also need the gaps in order to breathe.

If you did want to purchase one of our Fusion models then we would advise placing some sheets of MDF or plywood over the slats to prevent indentation and damage.
To advise with our own range we would need to know the body weights of the users in order to match you to the mattress with the correct support for your needs.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries then please don't hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419.  Our office hours are      8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday

Kind Regards,

Michaela
