What can you tell me about Durest mattress?

Hi, I’ve seen some really cheap memory foam mattresses on ebay by a company called Durest, can you tell me what you think of them? What’s worried me is there are a number of bad reviews about them online and I can’t find out any details about their beds! Thanks Jodie >

Hi Jodie,

We had another comment on Durest the other day.

Without the details of the mattress, I am unable to say for sure what may be the cause of your sleep disturbance.  I would guess that at that bargain price the mattress contains open coil springs. These are made of a continuous piece of wire that is coiled to create a massive set of joined springs and they tend to be of a thicker gauge making them too firm for most people.
As the springs are all one piece of wire this means that when one of you moves in the night the other person gets disturbed by the motion.  Pocket springs greatly reduce motion disturbance as they are individual springs encased in either spun-bonded material or the more breathable calico material.
The best way to eliminate this is with a zip and link mattress.  This is where you have two separate mattresses that are zipped together to make a whole mattress.

Our Origins range and two of the Artisan range use the spun-bonded pocket springs and the majority of the Artisan range use the calico pocketed springs that can have the tension selected to suit your body weight to give you the correct level of support.
The different models in each range have different upholstery layers to create different feels depending on your comfort preference, sleeping habits and budget.

I’ve not been able to find out much about the Durest mattress apart from they seem to be an ebay seller. I can’t find out anything about the components, details or specifications of their mattresses.

We always advise you need this information to make an informed decision. So I’d get in touch directly with them to find out more. We always state that if you can’t find out anything about the mattress you would be wise to exercise caution.

If a manufacturer is refusing to give this information what does this say about them? I may sound overly critical but this business model of hiding what’s in your beds or keeping it secret is a far cry from our business of transparency and honesty.
