Which mattress is the coolest to avoid memory foams heat?

You’re right to point out that memory foam and associated gel foam mattresses, like many of the boxed rolled mattresses, are incredibly heat retentive. Most of the new mattresses claim to be cooler than the last one. However, all foams will retain far more heat than a fibre or natural fibre mattress. This is because these moulding foams are vasco elastic so need to retain heat to work. Otty, Eve, Casper, Leesa and MADE are all constructed primarily of synthetic vasco elastic foam which all retain far more heat than say a wool based mattress.

If you’re wanting to avoid overheating during the night a pocket spring and natural fibre mattress is the best route to go down. Natural fibres are high wicking and breathable. Whereas gel and memory foam mattresses are the least breathable. Regardless of what covers you put on them or new gels/copper/metals etc they mix with them. They will always retain excessive amounts of heat compared to a breathable mattress.
