Allergy Advice questions

Hi again Kelston,

We display all the components of our mattresses on our site in order for potential purchasers to make a personal, informed and educated decision.

In regard to individual allergic reactions it would be up to the buyer to establish for him/her self whether or not the product is suitable for them.

I must admit (and thanks for reminding me) I did not have any response to the mails I sent out.

As time went by I forgot to chase them up and therefore have no direct response.

Incidentally though, through general internet browsing, I was intrigued by the various levels of sensitivity to allergens from sufferer to sufferer.

I also noted that allergens would have to enter the respiratory and /or be in direct contact with the skin – Please feel free to educate me further on this.

My nephew is dangerously allergic to peanuts and I am acutely aware of the additional measures of daily care to avoid contact, However, I must admit to a lack of knowledge of any allergy triggers possible that would / could be contained in any of our products.

I would like to invite yourself and others to contribute further to this area – I have started a post based on your question here to garner more questions and discussion specific to this area of concern.

As a start I shall be sending component samples of all our hair products to Allergy Advice UK and ask them “whom in their opinion could give me the answer to your question.”

As a response to your final question, the love it or return it guarantee gives you 60 days to return if you don’t like the mattress or it isn’t as expected.

We would advise that if you have known allergies to a component or components, buying a mattress with it in is probably not the best idea!

Hopefully, a response from AAUK will be able for us to categorically say one way or the other.

In the meantime however, we wouldn’t take any liability or responsibility for allergic reactions given that we clearly state precisely what’s incorporated in all our mattresses.

We advise people with allergies that if in doubt they should avoid any trigger components that they know they are allergic to.

This is a very good comment and I look forward to finding out more on this distressing subject.

One thing anyone with allergies could consider is buying a full mattress anti allergy encasement for their mattress. This means your mattress is fully enclosed and then you don’t come into contact with the mattress itself. If however you are extremely allergic to any fibre used within the mattress, then even using a mattress encasement might still not be safe enough.
