Hi Laura,

Thanks for your question, we agree the endless choice of materials and components in mattresses can be overwhelming.

Why not take a read of our starter guide here to help you out?

We would need a bit more on what you like / dislike to be able to make any recommendations given your question is looking at every material!

If you’re looking at our Artisan range which is our high-end pocket sprung line then the spring tension you mention would be correct.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

Soft and medium would be the tension I’d recommend, soft for the 9 stone and medium for the 13 stone sleeper.

We don’t sell memory foam due to heat and sagging issues, more on that here.

We only sell Hybrid foams which are less heat retentive, you can read more on that here.

We have a range of 100% natural Fusion latex mattresses which can be found here.

The main difference between latex and pocket sprung traditional mattresses are that latex is far more progressive, some say soft, but it’s more malleable.

Traditional mattresses have a firmer edge and some say give a firmer support.

It’s a bit like marmite some people love latex some don’t.

So we would recommend you trying a latex model in a showroom if you’re new to latex. We have loads of detail on everything you need to know on latex here.

Then maybe have a look at the links above and get in touch for us to help narrow down the search Sarah.

Kind Regards Gary
