Need supportive mattress for back and neck pain

Clare asked
10th November 2013

Hi, I have spent a whole afternoon trying out lots of mattresses in two different stores. I had pretty much decided on one. It was pocket sprung with memory foam – retailing at £450. Unfortunately when I googled it once home, the company selling it and the mattress itself seemed to get bad reviews. Talk of it sagging after a couple of weeks. I luckily did not buy on the spot. But now feel like I am back at square one!

That is why I found your site. There seems to be a wealth of information here, but the mind boggles. If you can offer any advice it would be much appreciated. My budget is about £500. I liked the feel of memory foam mattresses that I tried. I am small, 5’5 and 47KG, my partner is 64Kg. I am having problems with my neck/back and therefore know I need something with some support. We currently have a mattress that is over ten years old, single coil, I believe. It creaks and is definitely past it’s best. I notice you do not have many mattresses for sale in my price range, but any suggestions gratefully received. Do you also advocate buying without trying?

Or is there a showroom to try the products you sell?

Thanks so much for your help Clare >

Hi Clare.

Both of you are of a very light weight (7st and 10st) and no doubt you may have found many offerings will indeed be on the firm side for you both.

We do advocate buying without trying (our current data shows we do get it right 96% of the time) and for the odd time we don’t, you are assured that you will not be stuck with something that is not suitable, with our 60 night love it or return it guarantee.

I hope this site also gives good enough reasoning to convince you that buying online – particularly when backed up with good product advice – is not akin to sticking a pin into a long list of products and hoping for the best.

Kind Regards Gary
