Many thanks for your query about memory foam and latex.

Memory foam is notorious for retaining heat as it needs heat to soften the foam before it can start to mould. This is how it allows a sleeper to sink softly into it. It also makes it far harder to turn in as once you've sunk in you have to wait for it to return to its new position when you try and move during the night.

Latex is far better than memory foam as it doesn't rely on heat to react. Just pressure. So no slow sink and getting stuck at night. It is really lively and reactive. However, the market is flooded with synthetic latex which does retain far more heat than 100% natural breathable latex. Confusing we know. We only use 100% Natural latex in our Fusion mattress range.

Advice for warm sleepers:

If you're a hot sleeper though even Latex will be far more retentive than a 100% Natural fibre mattresses such as wool, cotton or horsehair. If you're a warmer sleeper we would advise you aim for as natural a mattress as possible. Our Artisan range is a great place to start. Finding out exactly what's inside the mattresses you're looking at:

When looking for a new mattress is essential to get as much information about its contents as possible. That way you can compare models. Most retailers sadly won't tell you exactly what's inside their mattresses. Especially with memory foam densities grades and depths. They believe its a trade secret but it's not, they just don't want you to be able to compare!
