Problems with Vi Spring Baronet Superb
Hi, I purchsed a Vi Spring Baronet Superb mattress and matching base about 6 months ago. I have the soft version which matches my bodyweight. I’ve not found it comfortable at all and have been really disappointed with it. I recently added a John Lewis foam topper which feels a bit better but still not great. My previous Relyon was much better. I am considering trying a latex topper – these are around £300-£500. What do you think?
I’m considering writing the whole bed off and starting again but not sure where I went wrong in the first instance I wish I had found your website before buying the Vi Spring. Many thanks for any advice Bob .

I’m a little surprised at this.
The Baronet Superb to me would have seemed a good choice for your body weight (I am assuming you are a lightweight). The ‘Soft’ springs which I assume was in the 1.3mm range seems the ideal tension to allow your body to sink gently.
Our spring tension guidelines are below but they will differ between retailers;

The insulating layer being horsehair adding a further element of springy support. Followed by a good 2200 gsm or so bonded and blended wools and cotton to provide you with the soft comfort layers.
Comfort is very subjective so we’d need to know why you do not find it comfortable as all the right ingredients are there for you. Are you finding it too ‘firm’? Please let me know – I’m intrigued!
As for a topper – We wouldn’t necessarily advise adding a latex topper to a Vi-Spring mattress as it can potentially change the entire sleep sensation. We’d recommend more something like a Wool or Microfibre one from somewhere like Soak and Sleep. Please see our article here for further information on mattress toppers.
