Questions about La-Z-Boy mattress

Paul asked
20th October 2014

I am in the process of purchasing a new kingsize mattress and came across the La-Z-Boy system 3000 pocket sprung mattress with latex in my local Furniture Village store, which I tried out and liked.

However I am aware that La-Z-Boy is relatively new in the U.K.

and just wondered if you have any knowledge or views on this mattress.

I would be interested to know if you have any comparable mattresses in your outlet.

The retail price is approximately £750.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your question.

I’ve seen that Lay-Z-Boy have a range of sleepers, which are sofa beds but I’ve not seen much on stand alone mattresses by them. I’d need to know some more detail such as the listed tension and the blend / density of the latex to do any real comparison.

I would bare in mind that there are hundreds of types and blends of latex with natural being the best of the best and fully synthetic being the lowest quality in latex terms.

The only similar model we would have to this is our Origins Pocket Latex 1500. A 2000 (Firm) spring can be chosen for anyone with a body weight above 17st;

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

This mattress is a traditional pocket sprung mattress with an in-built latex top layer that gives the mattress a firm feel overall. Due to the construction of the top layer it is a no turn mattress as the underside of the mattress is constructed differently.

Alternatively we do have our Fusion range of mattresses; 100% natural latex but these are latex only without the inclusion of pocket springs. This range is idea for pressure relief and give a very similar sort of sink in sensation to memory foam but without the heat issues associated. As above we would need to know body weights and sleeping patterns to discuss suitability.
