Replacing mattress after seven years
Hi, I'd like your advice on buying a kingsize matress, my husband & I currently have a Bedstead Pocket Mattress (Zircon), the reason we are looking to get a new one us I suffer with lower back pain & our one is now 7 years old, I'm currently suffering each night so feel it's time to update. We have seen a matress we both like the firmness & the feel of, it has this Specification; - 'No Turn' 1600 pocket spring mattress - Key fillings: 50mm memory foam - Hand tufted - Comfort grade 2 - Firm - Made in the UK Is there a particular matress you would recommend with spec like above?
Many thanks in advance >
Hi Jo,
Thanks for your question.
We are unable to make recommendations in respect of the above mattress or any others of similar specifications, as the details of fillings etc. provided are limited.
In addition, you have not indicated your body weights and this is what determines the spring tension inside the mattress;
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
We would say, however, that because you have back pain issues, it does not necessarily mean you need a firm mattress. We would recommend a medium feeling model at the most here. This will give you a slight sink into the top layer but not too much.
Have a look at our Origins Pocket 1500; In our Origins range this is our true medium feeling model constructed with pocket springs.

Kind Regards, Mike.
