Advice on Bensons for Beds Connoisseur mattress

Hi there, Please could we ask for your advice?
Our last mattress has lasted us 10 years. In need of a new one. 10 years ago it did not matter what we purchased, but now our requirements have changed. My husband is 6ft so looking at a king size. We don't like idea of memory foam as it retains heat, and he gets hot . I do suffer from back ace. So really something suitable for both. We have tried a connoisseur supreme pocket sprung 2500 firmness no3 at bensons. The sales advisor said it's the best thing ever, I can't find it stocked anywhere but at bensons. Is it a great mattress and do u guys do a alternative?
I don't want to purchase it at £1000 if he's making commission out of us, i would rather purchase from someone who matches for our needs. Kind regards Raj

Thanks for your question.
The Connoisseur mattress you are looking at is a pillow top mattress, which we would never recommend because when the top flattens, the whole mattress needs replacing and in addition the mattress is one sided, which limits the longevity.
Furthermore, the description of the upholstery layers is extremely vague and there is no indication by way of GSM (grams per square metre) of the levels of fillings used.
If you purchase a pocket sprung mattress with a separate topper, when the topper does eventually reach the end of it's life, the only expense is the replacement of the topper.
Please view the Origins Pocket 1500 on our site, which will provide a medium feel, however, I note that you have not indicated your body weights or preferred feel.
