The first thing to say is that when looking for a new mattress you should take into account the body weights of the people using it because this dictates the spring tension required to provide the correct level of support. In your particular case, we would suggest that a split tension would be appropriate, medium for you and firm for your husband. Such mattresses are only available in our Artisan range in one piece in king size and above. The mattresses in this range have firmer springs around the perimeter to prevent the feeling of rolling off and this will also help if you sit on the edge of the bed, although we would not recommend that this is done for any length of time.

The next consideration would be your preferred feel as this is provided by the upholstery layers in the mattress. Firm upholstery is not necessarily suitable for your arthritis as this may result in joint and back pain because the overall feel may be too firm. We would suggest that with the spring tensions selected as above, you ought to look for an overall medium feel in the upholstery.

Please view the Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004 both of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and both of which have upholstery providing that overall medium feel. The Naturals has 85% natural upholstery and the 004 has 100%. Alternatively, if you did believe that a firmer feel was required, please view the Artisan Bespoke, which has the most upholstery in the range and provides a slightly firmer feel overall.
