Vegan mattress - supportive but comfortable

My partner and I recently tried the Hypnos Swinton Mattress and liked this, along with an IGel fully latex mattress. The Silentnight Ortho Eco Choice 1400 was also comfortable. The Hypnos mattress is not vegan although that was probably our favourite along with the IGel.
I sleep mainly on my side and weigh 10st, my partner is just under 13st. He prefers to sleep on his stomach but more often sleeps on his side.

I like a medium - firm mattress which doesn't feel rigid, he likes a firm mattress which feels comfortable.

We both get very hot during the night and have spinal issues so it's very important to have the right support.

What would be the best vegan option please?

Hi Heidi,
Thank you for your question.
I have had a look at the Hypnos Swinton Mattress which tells me that this is a non turn mattress containing the following:-

The details do not however tell me what the gsm or grams per square metre are of the fillings contained within the mattress and by knowing this, tells you the quality of the mattress.  Also as the mattress can only be rotated, this actually reduces the lifespan.  It is always advisable to purchase a mattress that can be fully turned over as this allows the fillings to settle evenly and you are also utilising the whole of the sleep surface.

I have also tried to find full details of the Igel fully Latex mattress but again details are very flimsy.

The Artisan Latex mattress which we make is the only mattress in the Artisan range that is 100% plant-based that makes it not just suitable for vegans but anyone who is sensitive or allergic to animal fibres and contains the following:-

1: 200GSM BAMBOO
2: 1500GSM REBOUND COTTON
3: 3CM TALALAY (60% NATURAL 40% SYNTHETIC) LATEX (GRAPHITE FREE)
4: 450GSM ORGANIC FLAX FIBRE
5: 1000GSM COIR COCONUT FIBRE AS INSULATOR
6: 1500 CALICO ENCASED POCKET SPRINGS (SOFT/MED OR FIRM)
TOTAL: 3150GSM

This mattress is ideal for sleepers looking for progressive support or those who have been used to a moulding foam mattress before. This will allow a slow sink into the mattress but progressive enough to allow ease of movement, unlike memory foam.  Due to the fillings, this mattress will offer a cooler sleeping surface than typical memory foam and is a lot more responsive than a foam mattress.  This mattress is ideal for side sleepers as it will enable your shoulders and hips to sink into the mattress so as not to create any pressure point pain.

At your body weights, you both require asprings/"> medium spring tension which will provide you with the correct support.  The springs contained within the mattress are there to support you, where the fillings which are on top of the springs contain the comfort.

I hope the above is of assistance to you however, please do not hesitate to contact the office should you require further information or advice on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
