Would a topper help my.husbands back pain?
We have a ne mattress purchased 9 months ago from be sons beds. It cost us over £1100 we laid in their gadget bed which looked at our sleeping position and weight distribution. We purchased a no.3 which is a medium soft bed. I am 9 1/2 stone and my partner is about 15 1/2 stone. My partner is now saying his back hurts in bed at night and thinks the bed is too soft for him. We have a solid divan Base for extra support. Would you recommend a topper and which one please? Our bed size is a super king.
Hi Georgia,
Thanks for your question.
My main concern is that with your weight differential you should have a split tension mattress, Soft for you and Medium for your partner.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
As I understand it you have a mattress, which is neither one nor the other and it would appear that it is too soft for your partner causing back pain.
Laying on a bed in a showroom for a short time is no substitute for using a mattress for up to eight hours per night, irrespective of the gadgetry used to persuade you that it will be fine.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to firm up a mattress which is too soft with the application of a Mattress Topper. Toppers are normally added to provide an extra comfort layer and soften the overall feel.
It may be worth contacting Bensons to see if there is anything they can suggest in terms of a replacement, but remind them of your body weights and that a soft medium across the board is not suitable and should never have been suggested in the first place.
I hope that this helps but if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards, Lee.
