Best mattress for us?

My husband weighs 14 stone and is 5' 10". I weigh 9.5 stone and am 5'3". We have bought a firm double mattress 18 months ago but I have been getting lower back pain and stiffness since buying this. I tend to sleep on my side. Also I think maybe we need a Kingsize bed so can move around without disturbing each other. Do we need a mattress with different springing etc on each side? I like memory foam, but my husband gets very hot. Any suggestions?

The spring tension of a mattress is usually determined by the body weights of the parties using the mattress and in your particular case that would be medium for you both as this would provide the correct level of support. The next thing to consider is whether there is a particular way of sleeping i.e. side sleeper, which then leads to what level of upholstery to look for, in this case a softer upholstery.
There are two products in our pocket sprung range, which would suit a side sleeper and they are the Origins Comfort 1000, which has a standard medium spring tension with softer, man made upholstery layers and the other is the Artisan Luxury, which can have the spring tension selected as soft, medium or firm to suit and has soft natural upholstery layers, ideal for a side sleeper.
The layers of natural fibres within the Artisan Luxury will provide a very cool sleep surface and eliminate any problems with over heating throughout the night. We compare this mattress to the Vi Spring Devonshire;

We do not recommend memory foam products because of it's heat retaining properties and the fact that it can take some time to return to shape meaning that when you try and turn during the night it can feel like you are having to climb out of a hole.
