what is normal wear and tear.
we purchased a superking mattress. Within two weeks an extreme raised ridge developed down the centre with puckering of the cover. The manufacturer provided us with a replacement. The same problem began to appear almost immediately. The manufacturer has offered yet another like for like replacement. We are unsure whether to accept this. The man who delivered the replacement said that as soon as a mattress had to be slightly bent to get up the stairs it would never be the same. We are not sure whether to accept the replacement or ask for a refund and look for a new mattress elsewhere. We would be grateful for your advice. The mattress is pocket sprung with a memory foam and wool topper.
Hello Jacqueline,
Thank you for your question.
We would recommend you having a look at your base. If the base you have is a sprung slatted base, this can, over time, cause a ridge to develop but I would not have though this would happen within a couple of weeks. Please see the link attached which explains about sprung slatted bases.
A Pocket sprung mattress should never be bent due to the fact that this can damage the spring system within the mattress. If your mattress has been bent to get it up the stairs, you should may be speak to the Store you bought from as this is not acceptable. We always ask customers to check that they have adequate access for a Super Kingsize mattress due to the fact that they are extremely large mattresses.
You might be best speaking to the Store to see if they can make the mattress in a Zip & Link which are two mattresses zipped together. A Zip & Link is mainly used by people who do have insufficient access for a one piece Super Kingsize mattress. This will then avoid any mattress having to be bent round corners etc.
We hope the above is of assistance to you and that you do resolve this issue with the Store to your satisfaction.
If you have any further questions or if you would like to discuss the suitability of our John Ryan mattresses please do not hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419.
Kind regards,
Amy.
