Is the Origins Pocket 1500 a stable mattress that won't shake?
Hi John Ryan Staff,
I emailed about the Origins Pocket 1500 yesterday and I just have a couple more questions.I was curious if this mattress would be fine on a wood frame with sprung slats?Lastly, is this mattress stable, as in won't shake when my partner turns over or moves?
Warm wishes,
Chloe Fitch
Hi Chloe,
Thank you for your enquiry. At the body weights you have supplied, we would pair you both with a medium spring tension to give you the correct level of support. Neither of you has a bodyweight substantial enough to compress a firm spring. This means that you would only get support from the upholstery.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
If your comfort preferences are for a firmer mattress you should look for firmer upholstery layers. I would recommend you look at the Origins Pocket Reflex 1000. This mattress has a medium spring tension as standard and has firmer upholstery.
Both this mattress and the Origins Pocket 1500 would be fine on a sprung slatted base. We would recommend a barrier such as an old blanket or duvet to protect the underside of the mattress. If the space between the slats is greater than 3 inches you would need to board over the slats with MDF or Plywood. This is because the springs will settle into the gap and over time this will damage the mattress and you would not get the correct support from the springs.
Both of these mattresses have individual pocketed spring, so only the springs you lie on would be compressed and motion should be reduced. The only way to completely eliminate this is with a zip and link mattress, which are available in king size and above, and placing it on a platform base. This is what your base would be if you board it over, giving a uniform surface for the mattress.
I trust this is helpful and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss the suitability of any of our mattresses please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
