A customer asked

Hi Guys, what a great site this is!!

Can I ask some advice please?

I have just bought an Ottoman bad with curved slats and I need to know which is the best Matress for it. I have a bad back so a firm / Ortho matress is required, however I have read so many different opinions on which is best etc I feel you will just tell me straight. Is it pocket sprung, is it memory foam, is it coil....arrggghh?

Thanks Damien. .

Hi Damien.

It will most certainly NOT be open coil / continuous coil.

So all that is left is either pocket springs or foam (not memory foam).

This is the support element of your mattress and should be right for your weight.

The second element of the mattress is the upholstery (the comfort layers).

This can be anything from Polyester (cheap) to memory foam (mid priced) to latex (mid priced) to natural fibres (expensive).

So dependant on your budget will influence what you can reasonably expect to get.

If your budget is particularly low, you can buy the two elements (Support and Comfort) separately.

For example, buy a basic pocket sprung mattress (support) and complement this further by use of a good topper (comfort).

Hope this helps Damien and i think it will be in your interest to read the comments on this page for additional advice [Mattresses for slats].

We now offer our own ottoman range, please view them here.
