A customer asked

Hi, This website is amazing!

Thank you so much. We found 3 mattresses from Tender Sleep. One Pocket Indulgence, one Pocket Supreme and one Organic Cotton. I can't find any details about these anywhere on the internet and they don't go into detail on the site. My OH is on the heavier side and I am heavy but loosing weight and at least 5 and a half stone lighter than OH. Only info I can find on Indulgence: [£549. KS. Matt: Feb 2013] 'With 1500 individually nested springs in the standard 150cm (5'0'') mattress the Pocket Indulgence has been upholstered using some of the finest materials, incorporating layers of white cotton felt, Ultra silk and lamb's wool. The superior quality soft viscose chenille covering gives a luxurious and sumptuous surface to the mattress. Additional features include three rows of side stitching, flag stitched handles for ease of turning and gold plated vents, that allow the mattress to breathe. As a final touch we hand tuft using woollen tufts.' ====================================================== Supreme: [£449. KS. Matt: Feb2013] Containing 1200 individually nested pocketed springs in the 150cm (5'0'') size, the mattress is upholstered with layers of high quality fillings and overlaid with Ultra Silk, giving a luxurious surface to the mattress. A superior quality damask has been used to cover the mattress. The woollen tufts and three rows of side stitching preserve the shape of the mattress and enhance its durability ==================================================== Organic Cotton: [No pricing info] Containing upto 2000 pocketed springs. Upholstered with layers of high quality fillings of memory foam, reflex foam and super supreme. Then covered in superior quality eco friendly organic cotton. ================================================== OH has bad back, I do sometimes. OH sleeps either on front of back, I am a side sleeper. We will probably be getting a slatted base so will need to use wood and padding for the pocket springs. Any advice on mattresses best for us would be great. I do have allergies and suffer from asthma but have been fine on normal mattresses until now!

Arggghhh!

LOL!

Hi Ali.

Once again the lack of any substantial information of how these products differ from each other - and of course why the price differences?

Leaves you no better off as to which of these will be suitable for you.

Taking into account the low retail price of these products leads me to believe that you may be better off purchasing the two main elements separately - Support + Comfort.

For example, The Healthopaedic Memory Pocket Deluxe from Mattressman: £275. KS. Matt. [Feb 2013]

This by itself is not enough to suit your requirements, but it will be an excellent basis of support.

Purchase separately the comfort layers to suit you both.

For example: The Duck Down Dual Chamber Topper: £67.50 KS.

Duvet and Pillow Warehouse [Feb 2013].

All mattresses below £400 are pretty standard despite the huge choice, and it is rather unlikely they will be able to contain all the elements you both need for support and comfort. Nine times out of ten it is always better to composite your own mattress as we have done above to give you the mattress you require. The savings you make by doing it this way will enable you to change the topper as and when required (the mattress part should always be like new (with care of course)) and you could also buy new bedding to keep the two parts together - and still come home with change.

It may also be worth taking a look at our starter range, The Origins range.

Our Origins range represents our starter models and provides the minimum standard you should expect from any of our Luxury Pocket Sprung Man Made. These have been specifically designed to achieve the best mattresses you can get within this price range. The Origins Pocket 1500 is our best selling made in the UK man made and natural fibre mattress. Offering a quality 1500 pocket-spring unit and layers of fillings for a medium overall feeling. Unbeatable value given its quality.

First Layer: 300 gsm Wool: This component is blended with (nominal amount) silk to give the primary layer beneath the fabric a gloriously soft cushion.

Second Layer: 750gsm Very soft Polyester: This coupled with the layers below brings the level of upholstery quite high. However, when compressed through tufting gives these layers a medium comfort but also has sufficient support by use of the springs.

Third Layer: 500gsm Polyester: This is the cushioning layer that acts as the dampener between the insulator layer below and the soft polyester that will follow.

Fourth Layer: One inch foam insulator: Directly on top of the spring unit we use a one inch layer of HD foam. This cushions you from the spring unit but also works with you enabling the pocket springs to rise and fall as you move.

The stretch knit mattress side panels are machine stitched . Traditionally hand tufted. Even though the mattress side panels are 9″ deep, the undulations caused by the abundant upholstery brings the mattress depth to a more realistic 13″
