I am 5' 4" weigh 11 1/2 stone. Over 65 & cannot turn my current normal mattress due to hernia so looking at a latex one. I have a slated bed base. Would need someone to take my old mattress away, which is still in good condition as only 2 years old and cost a lot but as I cannot turn it dips in middle. I would need someone to put the new mattress on my bed. Does your company do this if I purchase a new mattress? I live in postcode area RG4

Dear Linda,

Thank you for your question.  Latex mattresses such as our Fusion range are still two-sided mattresses and would still require turning for the proper care and maintenance. My recommendation would be to look at our Hybrid range, even though the topper is turnable the core mattress is one-sided and only needs rotating.

Any foam based mattress, whether latex or hybrid foam cannot go directly on a slatted base, they need a solid platform to sit on.  This is because just as the foam contours to your body it will also mould to the slats.  You would not get the correct support, your mattress would be damaged and you would get a bumpy feel from the ridges.  You would need to board over the slats with 3-5 mm of MDF or Plywood.

When your delivery arrives, it will be with a two-man team who will take your mattress to the room of your choice and set it up on the base for you and remove any packaging.  John Ryan by Design does not remove old mattresses but the courier company Ashwood do offer this service for £30 for a mattress and £40 for a complete bed.  You would need to contact them directly after you have been sent your delivery date.

If you would like to discuss this or anything else please call our friendly team on 0161 437 4419.  Our office hours are 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Kind Regards
Michaela
