Mattress advice after spinal surgery

A customer asked

Good evening! I'm in a bit of a quandary as to a replacement for my lovely (but now worn out) KozeeSleep Countour Master open sprung 4'6" mattress with a good 80+mm of memory foam on top (non turn type). As these kinds of mattresses can only be turned head to foot I've had a good 6 years out of it but it now needs replacing.
I have a solid slat bed with good quality large slats and was interested to read your article about pocket sprung on bed frames. As I am disabled I cannot get to cut boards etc to cover the slats so think an open sprung is going to be best? I have to ask someone to turn my mattress for me and make up the bed already :)
I'm trying to source a medium-firm or firm sprung mattress with a minimum 80mm memory foam layer but this is proving very difficult and I'm going bug-eyed searching various online suppliers.
I had a lot of spinal surgeries and found some previous advice 6+ years ago to go for medium firm sprung + 2-3" memory foam top layer really helped my levels of night time comfort & morning stiffness. But trying to find a replacement mattress is getting very confusing as a lot of companies seem to have folded/merged.
I should add I'm a heavy person and also dislike getting hot at night - the cooler the better!

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your question.

I note that you are looking for a mattress which contains Memory Foam as a constituent part, but you do not like being hot at night. memory foam is notorious for heat retention and this is the main reason that people who have a mattress with this in choose to change in the short term to a mattress without. We do not manufacture Memory Foam mattresses. It may be that your requirements could be met in either a Hybrid Foam or Latex mattress and these can be viewed here

I also note that you indicate that you are a heavy person and would guide you towards the Resilience mattresses on our website.

If you require further advice or assistance, please do not hesitate to call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
