Mattress help for chronic back pain

A customer asked

Hi, I am about to buy a mattress but no idea where to start. I want a double, I'm a 10 st female and have a chronic lower back problem that no doctor can get to the bottom of. The softer the better for me. I am on an inflatable at the mo and it's great. I once slept in a flock bed and my back was great. Get the picture?

Any ideas?

Hi Ruth,

Sorry to hear about your back pain. I'll try and keep the advice short and sweet so you don't get bamboozled by mattress specifics!

You have two choices, either Traditional pocket sprung mattress with a medium spring tension to give you the correct level of support and soft comfort layers or a foam based mattress. We have some advice on the difference between foam and pocket sprung beds but in a nutshell the foam bed will give you the slow sink and soft hug, were the traditional will give you slightly more bounce and whilst soft the sink will be lesser than a memory or hybrid foam mattress.

Origins Comfort 1000 luxury mattress

For a traditional soft mattress, I'd look at our Origins Comfort 1000 or if your budget can stretch to it the Artisan Luxury.  Both have soft upholstery layers for that sink in feel while supported with the medium spring tension.

Hope that helps start your search off, if you would like any further information or would like to discuss the suitability of any of our mattresses please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
