From what you say it sounds like you have been looking at pillow-top mattresses, which we do not make nor recommend for the reasons detailed in this article. In addition, it is impossible for us to recommend products other than our own as many manufacturers do not disclose full details of construction and upholstery in terms of GSM (grams per square metre). 

With your particular body weight you are borderline soft to medium, but as you have said you prefer a softer mattress, we would suggest a soft spring tension for you and medium for your husband. We note that you have not specified budget or whether you are looking for man-made upholstery or natural. Split spring tensions are only available in our Artisan range in king size and above.

Please view the Origins Comfort 1000, which has a standard medium tension spring unit with soft man-made upholstery layers. Alternatively, if you are minded to go up to king size, please view the Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004, both of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and both have natural upholstery. The Naturals has 85% and the 004 has 100%, but both will provide the same overall feel in the upholstery. The Naturals is the best selling product in the Artisan range as detailed at the foot of this response.
