Problems with Vi Spring mattress

Hi Last year I purchased a Vi Spring Elegance Bedstead mattress, medium.
Although I was told to persevere the mattress caused me severe pain across my shoulders.
I was offered an exchange to a firm.
This is worse.
I am now left with an expensive mistake .I am looking to purchase a new mattress I now have a new John Lewis sprung edge divan and need advice for the best mattress to suit I am 5’11” and 14 1/2 stones and the bed is a king size The most comfortable mattress I’ve slept on is a Stearns and Foster, plush pillow top Sealy Posturepedic I am really concerned that the wrong choice will be another expensive mistake and would appreciate your advice please I would prefer NOT to have memory foam Kind regards Ben >

I am sorry to hear of the issues you have had with your Vi-Spring mattresses, however, I would advise extreme caution in purchasing a one sided pillow topped one as a replacement. This is because when the top flattens, the whole mattress will need to be replaced. The alternative would be to purchase a double sided, pocket sprung mattress and if required, a separate topper.
I note that you originally purchased a medium tension mattress, which is the tension we would have advised given your body weight.

I certainly would not recommend a firm mattress, which is what the Posturepedic would be. Experiencing aches and pains in your shoulders is a telltale sign that the mattress is too firm!

The sprung base that you now have would make any mattress placed on it feel softer and more forgiving.
