Replacing a sleepeezee bed, any advice would be welcome?

We are planning to replace a sleepeasy bed that we’ve had for years. The label describes it as an Alicia 1000 pocket sprung. It is no longer on the market and we don’t know much about it except that it has been very comfortable for both of us. It is on a sprung slat base which we prefer the look of to a divan.

I notice that you don’t sell sprung slats and don’t seem to recommend them. Our problem with divans, apart from the look, is that the headboards always seem to move and rub on the wall behind. Is there anyway of avoiding this?

Thinking about the mattress, do you know anything about the Alicia and in your view what would be a similar product? I am 9.5 stones, my husband about 12. He has some back issues and likes a firm mattress. We are thinking of a zip and link super king because motion transfer is a very big problem. I’m a light sleeper.

Any advice would be welcome

Thanks

Hi Marion,

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any information pertaining to this mattress so making a comparison to any of our mattresses is impossible.

If your comfort preference is a firmer mattress then I would recommend looking at our Origins Pocket Reflex 1000.  This mattress has a medium spring tension as standard, which will support both you and your husband at your given bodyweights, and also has firmer upholstery layers.  Another mattress you may wish to consider is our relaunched Fusion 3 mattress. This is 100% natural Latex in a firmer feel. I would recommend that you try a Latex mattress before purchasing if you have not already done so as Latex does have a unique sleep surface.

The zip and link option for a pocket sprung mattress will reduce motion disturbance but this option is not available in the Fusion range as there is no motion transfer with Latex.

For the Fusion 3 mattress, you would need to board over your slatted base with MDF or Plywood to give the mattress a uniform surface. This would not be necessary for a pocket sprung mattress unless the space between the slats is greater than 3 inches, just an old or cheap duvet to protect the underside of the mattress from indentations from the slats.

I hope this is helpful and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
