Similar mattress to Ikea Hovag in firm tension

Hello,
We are trying to decide between the Origins 1500, 2000 and Origins Reflex 1000 mattresses. We have had a lot of issues in the past with mattresses - we have had a Tempur original for the past 3 years but I find it terribly uncomfortable, too soft and unsupportive.
We have since moved into our spare bed which is an IKEA Hovag in firm tension which provides a great and painless night sleep (although the lack of edge support is an issue). Basically we are looking for something similar to this.
We are both side sleepers and like a firm feel (but not brick hard). Definitely not super soft and squishy like the Tempur. We are both around the 14 stone mark in weight.
What would you suggest?

Thanks for getting in touch to see what mattress compares to the IKEA HOVAG mattress.
It sounds very much like your preference is for a firmer feel mattress which is maybe why you're not getting on with your Tempur mattress. These have a much softer slow sink feeling which means if you're looking for firmer support in your mattress the Tempur range may be unsuitable.
The issue with foam mattresses is there's very little that can be offered in terms of edge support as you mention. A number of people have been in touch with us to complain that they literally roll off the edge of these Memory foam or Tempurpedic mattresses.
Given you're both side sleepers and 14 stone you'll need a 1.4 medium gauge pocket spring to support you. You can find out more on spring tensions in our handy guide below.
A Mattress with a similar feel to the ikea HOVAG
We would recommend that the Origins Reflex is the best model to give you that firmer feel with plenty of edge support. Given there is a perimeter bar and firmer spring row surrounding the mattress. It's also two-sided meaning you can use both sides. It will give you a comfortable but firmer feel in the top upholstery layers.
