Please could you advise on a suitable mattrsss topper for a memory foam spect mattress and a 86kg person who likes to move around in sleep and sleep on their front and sides. Current mattress is to 'sinking'.

Hi Becky,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Mattress toppers are used primarily to offer a softer feel to mattresses that are feeling too firm and not to make a softer or sinking mattress feel firmer. In fact you can always soften a mattress with the addition of a topper, but you cannot firm one up. We do not recommend memory foam mattresses because of the heat retention and the tendency to sink and take time to return to shape when moving in your sleep.

It may be worth placing some thin (3-5mm) MDF on the base to provide the mattress with a solid surface upon which to sit and possibly reduce the dip If this does not work, you may have to look at changing your mattress. Please view the products in our Fusion range (latex|) and in particular the Fusion 3, which will provide you with a medium feel. Latex is quicker to return to shape and does not dip in the same way memory foam does.

Alternatively, you could look at our Hybrid foam range and in particular the Hybrid 4, which will also provide a medium feel for someone of your body weight. Hybrid foam also responds quicker than memory foam.

We trust that the above is of assistance to you, but if you require any further guidance or advice, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
