What 2’6” beds firm memory topped orthopaedic beds are available?
Looking for 3 foot and a 2’6” mattresses with no buttons with memory foam top for bad backs.
Hi Helen,
Thank you for your question. The advice used to be that anyone with back issues required a firm mattress, but this is not the case. The correct level of support is essential to keep the spine aligned. An orthopaedic spring tension, also known as extra firm springs, utilises a 1.9mm spring gauge, which requires a weight of at least 20 stone to activate. If the springs are not active and moving with you, they are not supporting you.
| Spring Tension | Wire diameter (Gauge) | Weight Range |
|---|---|---|
| Soft | 1.2mm | Bespoke Tension (Please Call) |
| Medium | 1.4mm | Upto 16 stone |
| Firm | 1.6mm | 16 stone plus |
| Extra Firm / Orthopaedic | 1.9mm | 20 stone plus |
None of our mattresses contain memory foam, which is very heat-retentive, making many customers overheat. The only mattress within our range that has a flat sleep surface is the Origins Pocket Latex 1500. Latex provides the same moulding sensation as memory foam, but latex is more breathable and responsive. However, this mattress is not available in a 2' 6" width. Our smallest size is a standard single, which measures 3' wide by 6' 3" long. Unfortunately, we are unable to make this in a bespoke size.

If you prefer firm comfort and support, there is a company called Long Beds that sells The Brick mattress, which is available in the sizes you require.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
