What mattress could you recommend for a stomach sleeper?

Hi
A year ago I bought a mattress ‘Venice 1400 Pocket Ortho’ from Rest Assured. At that time I didn’t do much research and bought a model that was similar to the one my partner had which I always found comfortable. Unfortunately it turned up to be way to firm for me and I struggle to have a good night sleep. I tried to add a topper but it didn’t work, then put a spare duvet and recently a throw. Strangely the bed is better without any of them but still giving me a hip and a back pain and making me to turn around a lot and wake up early. I need to take a bullet and buy a new mattress again and could you please advise what mattress could you recommend for me?
I am 174cm high and 58kg weight. My body produces a lot of heat in the night and I can’t have any memory foam, gels or other hybrid/combined solutions because these can be too warm. I sleep on my stomach and for the last year was sleeping on my back a lot because of this mattress. I have a sprung slated frame and I am using the under bad storage so would prefer to keep it. The bed is a king size.
Thank you

Hi Camilla

Thanks for your question.

Someone who sleeps on their front, needs a mattress that is firmer in the top support layers, so that you don't sink into too much, and create an unnatural arch in your lower back, which will create back pain or make current pains worse.

I would recommend that you take a look at the Artisan Bespoke model in our range, This has the firmest top upholstery layers, it is 100% natural fibres, which create the coolest mattresses.

John Ryan By Design Artisan Bespoke Vi-Spring Herald Superb
1 500gsm British Wool 1200gsm Blended British Fleece Wool & Cotton
2 1200gsm Blended British Fleece Wool and Cotton NA
3 Hairproof Cambric Cover Hairproof Cambric Cover
4 1200gsm Pure Horsetail NA
5 1200gsm Horsehair 1200gsm Horsehair
6 1000gsm White Cashmere Insulator 1000gsm British Fleece Wool
7 1600 Calico encased Pocket Springs [49mm] [1.28mm] 1476 Calico encased Pocket Springs [51mm] [Gauge: 1.42mm]
Total GSM 5100gsm 3400gsm

I would advise a  medium tension support spring, which is much more in line with your body weight, but will still offer you a firmer support level, as you are in the soft tension spring range at your current body weight, see all about mattress tensions here.

If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.
