Adore my new 5* bed!

Having done a ton of research and experienced a painful letdown from another bed company, John Ryan restored my faith through comprehensive and thoughtful communication throughout the purchase process, and delivering a premium product that met my every expectation – adore my new 5* bed!

It’s a keeper! Over the past few years, I’ve had back problems and found it challenging to get a good night’s sleep. Waking in the early hours, too uncomfortable to sleep. In addition to stretching, exercise, etc., I pursued better mattresses. Luckily, they came with a send-it-back clause if you don’t like it. I sent two back and finally purchased one of the most expensive mattresses from a leading memory foam manufacturer. My back pain continued. I gave up, believing it wasn’t the mattress. It was the old fart sleeping on the bed. My wife found John Ryan by Design and suggested we try them. I wasn’t in the mood for more disappointment, but she convinced me to give the dice another roll. We’ve had our mattress and bed for about six weeks, here’s my experience so far. My first thought was while it looked exceptionally well made, it didn’t feel much comfier than my costly memory foam mattress. However! After about a week with the mattress, my back pain started to ease. I thought it might be a placebo effect, so I ignored it. That weekend, I slept through to 9 a.m.; usually, my back would force me out of bed well before 7 a.m., whatever the day. I was convinced it wouldn’t last, but my back pain has eased and eased over the weeks. It’s not gone entirely, but in just six weeks, the pain has reduced considerably, and my sleep quality hasn’t been this good in years. My wife also tells me she finds the mattress very comfortable, especially around her hips. In summary, this mattress is a keeper. The memory foam mattress has been relegated to the guest room. We don’t want anyone getting too comfy!

Please, don’t fall for the advertising hype put out by the ‘big boys’ on TV. This is the second time I have had a bed from this company, and is the only company I would use in the future. These guys know what they are talking about, and understand beds, unlike a lot of the ‘big’ companies that spend a fortune on advertising and just want your money. Most importantly, they want you to buy a bed THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU. Please, don’t fall for the advertising hype put out by the ‘big boys’

A great company selling a great productExpert advice from a team that really… Expert advice from a team that really care. I picked a certain product and they called me to talk over the choice and I ended up changing my mind. The new mattress is spot on.

Excellent zip and link mattress Excellent zip and link mattress – high quality hand made and very comfortable for a great night’s sleep. Delivery was a week earlier than expected also very professional with mattress carried by the delivery guys up to our bedroom.

I only have positive things to say about John Ryan By Design. So much useful information on the website has helped me understand mattresses in terms of the springs and upholstery and how that alters the feel of the mattress. That info was far better than I found in any retailer I visited. I had spoken on the phone to JRbD a couple of times to help choose the right mattress. Also, the sleep trial is really awesome, especially given the cost of this luxury mattress which is quite an investment. I’ve been sleeping on the Artisan Bespoke 004 Medium King size for about 4 months now. It did take me a while to adjust to the mattress but I honestly sleep much better now compared to my old overly firm mattress. I picked this mattress as I wanted a 100% natural materials mattress. One improvement I would suggest is to use a cover that doesn’t even need any flame retardents but JRbD are trying with the more natural based treatment used. It’s a heavy mattress which needs two strong people to turn, so I have to get two people to do that for me, but I knew this would be the case. I did have an issue that needed sorting, which was mostly due to my own decisions which had a knock on effect, and John Ryan were very fair and went over and above what I expected to sort this out. So I can only give praise to the customer service given. Delivery was within the expected time frame. I don’t yet know about longevity but hopefully the mattress will last a long time. I have a super luxury bed now complete with new pillows, wool duvet and fresh cotton linen. Thank you for improving my sleep at this time in my life.

Couldn’t be happier! I have been using John Ryan for about a decade, various house moves have meant I have purchased and used 3 different models. I started with the Origins 500 which whilst miles better than other mid-range mattress I previously used, was a little too firm (quite ‘bouncy’ due to the poly). I am also a hot sleeper and I found I still woke up feeling a little clammy. I then upgraded to an Artisan Naturals – perfect in every way, temperature issues and back pain finally resolved! I then moved house again and had developed a little knee and hip pain over the years. I purchased an Artisan Bespoke 004 in September at an 20% category B discount and I swear if I do go to sleep with pain, it seems to be miraculously cured in my sleep! I never want to get out of bed again! 🙂

Artisan Bespoke 004, King size, zip and link, medium tension
I was nervous about buying on-line, with no opportunity to try out, but I had several conversations with staff before making the order, and they were all very helpful. The John Ryan website is also very informative.
I was keen to have good motion isolation, as my wife fidgets, so we went for the zip and link option. The mattresses are deep and heavy, so, as well as providing good motion isolation, the zip and link option makes them easier to turn. I would think turning a normal king size mattress must be quite difficult.
The bed and mattress arrived ahead of time, all in perfect condition. We have had the bed for a couple of months now. It is extremely comfortable and luxurious. For us, medium tension is just right, firm enough, but you also sink in a little bit to give that touch of luxury. Overall, we could not be more pleased and we would thoroughly recommend John Ryan. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for!

Decided to research buying a new bed
Decided to research buying a new bed, as over the years my purchases left me feeling I got it wrong again. So came across John Ryan by design and asked plenty of questions. The help was brilliant asking questions about my health, my sleep habits and type of bed I was using. After reading decided to go ahead with purchasing a bed, the cost was alot more than I had allocated to spend on a bed, I was not disappointed. My bed arrived beginning of February and after 7 weeks of sleeping on it, I can honestly say it’s been an absolute dream. The delivery was excellent and the guys put it together and adjusted it to where I wanted it placed. Giving me the lowdown on looking after it. Would highly recommend them to anyone. The extra money was well worth it. Thank you to John Ryan by design on a wonderful bed.

Thoroughly satisfied
Really helpful staff advised us on which mattress to go for. We have been sleeping on it for over a month and couldn’t be happier so far. We placed the order online following a conversation with them a few weeks earlier, even after I had placed the order they called up just to check our requirements before formally accepting the order, she even remembered us.

So much better than the mattress we replaced, and they talked my wife out of getting a firm mattress, which she previously thought she needed, but John Ryan by design actually corrected her on this. We had tried the vispring mattresses in a store nearby and I would say that the quality does seem very comparable even though the John Ryan mattresses were half the price.

Highly recommended
A phone call with the team at John Ryan helped decide which product to purchase with clear, simple advice. We ended up purchasing an Artisan Bespoke 004 Mattress. We were advised there may be a period of adjustment moving from a memory foam mattress however the mattress was extremely comfortable from the first night. Highly recommended.

The website explains how they make their mattresses and the different types very well. Ordering was easy and we received a helpful follow up call.
We were kept informed of progress and the delivery date which was 3 weeks later. The delivery men were helpful and careful delivering the mattress and collecting our old mattress.

We ordered 2 Artisan bespoke 04 king beds and 2 single Origins 1500 mattresses for our holiday let. John Ryan were excellent in their advice when deciding what to buy and incredibly helpful with timing of the order and delivery. The delivery went very smoothly. The beds and mattresses themselves are superb. So good in fact that my parents who have been through several beds, without finding something they like, are going to buy one, having slept on one of the king beds for a few nights and loving it.
We had high expectations after reading material on the website, but these have been exceeded.

Life-changing
One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on, and that includes all the good hotels. I ordered an Artisan Luxury mattress with an Artisan base, and the mattress turned out to be a bit too soft for my back. I called John Ryan, they immediately recommended replacing it with Artisan Bespoke 004, and delivered the replacement within three weeks. And then something wonderful happened. I sleep all night and wake up an hour earlier, well-rested, my back and knees feel great, the blood circulation has improved. The delivery guys were lovely, too. Thank you so much!

Mattress technology has definitely evolved.
Every purchase in this price range warrants research. Pleased I found this company and then found a friend who has owned one for years. The web site was very useful in this regard. In fact, the whole buying experience has been excellent.

Our old mattress was top of the range from a leading company when I bought it a few decades ago. Mattress technology has definitely developed a lot. It’s more comfortable (and thicker). Best of all, one of us getting up in the night no longer disturbs the other; the mattress absorbs the movement.

If I have any reservation at all, its about turning this mattress monthly when I’m in my 70s and later; it’s neither small or light. Maybe I should worry about that if it happens.

Excellent experience overall – great FAQ & advice
Excellent experience overall. Started with some research into mattresses and I found the very comprehensive FAQ. This was really helpful with my decisions. I’m a hot sleeper and needed a breathable and cool mattress as well as the correct support. It was really hard to find exactly what I was looking for in shops – there was very little advise and the marketing material was very confusing. In the end I chose John Ryan by Design because of their advice (online and phone) and the return policy. I’m really happy with my mattress (Bespoke 4) and it was much cheaper than my next alternative (which didn’t have such a great return policy in case of error).

website really useful. We phoned to talk through our options as we couldn’t decide on firmness of bed, generally very helpful. Delivery and set up went smoothly. Obviously time will tell if the bed is any good but no issues in first few weeks.
